Finally finished this massive oil painting! It's a recreation of Dorothea Lange's famous photo Migrant Mother (1936). It's the first in the series I am working on called "Reviving the Past." It will be a showcase of old photos taken throughout American History that I am going to use my paint as a tool to bring life into the monochromatic images we often struggle to connect with.
I will be completing many paintings in this series. This page will be dedicated to showing my steps in the process and outlining new pieces.
If you have any suggestions for photos (good quality please, not tiny thumbnails) please, message them to me for consideration. If there are stories of the lives or places captured in those photos that is a huge bonus. Thank you for all your support so far! I hope you enjoy! I'm super excited to work on this series!
Here's the Wikipedia link for anyone curious on the history of this hard working widow known as "The migrant mother":

Series painting #2 Boys on the porch
First step in this piece was colorizing the original image. I was shown this image with little information on the children, other than that it was taken during the great depression. I hope to discover more about this image, as it has captivated me to the point of adding it to my series.

this is a work in progress, so stay tuned for updates. i will keep my photos of any progress here and videos on my YouTube page documenting my progress.
